“Lamentations”
Duo 1717 brings a program of lament and light, featuring our new word cycle, “The Eye of the Poppy,” for 2 voices and piano. Poetry by celebrated Ann Arbor poet, Zilka Joseph, and music by Duo 1717. We’ll travel through Haiti, including re-imagined folk tunes and Haitian composers Justin Elie and Ludovic Lamothe. Works by Liszt, John Musto, Margaret Bonds, William Grant Still, Damien Sneed, and Ricky Ian Gordon will complete our journey.
